Character's Canon Abilities:
Jim Moriarty is as intelligent as they come and uses this ever to his advantage. Like his counterpart Sherlock Holmes, he uses this skill to draw knowledge left in plain sight but often overlooked by the average person; Indisputable deductive reasoning that is right far more often than it misses the mark. Unlike Holmes, Moriarty has used this intelligence in an academic application and is highly trained in quantum physics and mathematics. He has a particular fondness for cryptography.
Above all, in Jim's world he is the greatest criminal mind to ever live. His intelligence borders insanity and gives him a cold and distant edge over others. He is capable of orchestrating everything from large-scale crimes (such as assisting terrorists) while never having his name so much as known by the authorities, to picking up the pieces of smaller crimes and executing them flawlessly. What makes this extremely impressive is that he can do it all without leaving a trail back to himself, something that most criminals fail at. He isn't a fan of getting his hands dirty and his multiple degrees of separation from the actual crime is what makes him virtually untouchable.
It's intellect and attention to detail like that that makes Jim an exceptional liar. He's thorough, covers his bases and knows just how to act and what to say to make people believe every word that comes out of his mouth. Only someone paying extremely close attention to the finer details like Sherlock Holmes could see through his impeccably spun lies. His believability transcends no just his being able to speaks an be believed—No, Jim Moriarty can create a whole new persona for himself and fit together all the details necessary to get the entirety of England to believe he's always existed.
That being said, while Jim is extremely intelligent he is still very human. His intellect is easily thwarted by equal intellect and while he's capable of paying meticulous attention to detail he is also vulnerable to making mistakes like anyone else.
If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them?
I would like to give Jim Moriarty the ability to hide in plain sight. Unlike run-of-the-mill invisibility, Jim will instead be able to blend into the background and possibly even interact with others without them being capable of realizing that he is Jim Moriarty. This is very similar to the concept of an illusion, where once the illusion of his disguise is broken he will not be able to hide. People familiar with his disguise will be able to instantly recognize him as Jim Moriarty (That is, if he dresses up as "Jim From IT" in front of Sherlock Holmes, he will be recognizable and the illusion will not work)
In order for this power to work, Jim must be in a disguise different from the way normally dresses. Once he's been "found out" as Jim Moriarty (by telling them outright or keen observation on their part) the illusion is broken and can't be recreated without a disguise change. Though someone can deduce that he is Jim Moriarty while using this power, it would take exceptional observation skills or an ability to break the illusion. Of course, this skill is not intended for Jim to create a new identity and maintain it as a long-term public persona. The longer he attempts to maintain the illusion (especially against people who also know Moriarty) the less effective the illusion.
This ability will not deter from Jim's natural ability to lie and create new personas for himself. In the series he demonstrated on two occasions the ability to create a new identity for himself and fool a number of people about him being really "Richard Brook" or "Jim from IT". Characters' ability to recognize who/what he is will still be dependent on their seeing past his complex web of lies, should their interactions come to it.
Weapons: Jim will come into the game with a two-tone semi-automatic Beretta 92FS Inox, fully loaded magazine.

Point in Canon: During 2x03, while waiting for Sherlock Holmes on the roof of St Bart's. Throughout the course of the episode, Jim has been systematically trying to destroy Sherlock Holmes, a promise he made to him once before. Sherlock deals with the trials flung at him by Moriarty that can only have one simple conclusion; The world cannot have a consulting criminal and a consulting detective. The lesser of the two must die. After a text from his nemesis, Jim made his way to the top of St Bart's Hospital to wait for the Reichenbach Hero to take the plunge, but of course he came prepared.
Character Personality:
If Jim Moriarty is a spider, then his web is spun of nothing but lies and manipulation. It's a skill that comes easy to him, and it's the superior intelligence he touts that gives him the edge over the people he considers simply ordinary. In his mind, anyone who can’t stand toe-to-toe with him in any capacity is beneath him. This doesn’t mean he wont help them fix their problems, kill a few people or give them a leg up in the world of crime, however, they will just never be on his level and worth more than what little attention he gives to them. Of course, if they’re on the receiving end of his manipulation the motivation is probably anything but interest. Money, power, fun; he’ll always be after an ordinary person for these reasons.
They say there's a fine line between genius and insanity, and Jim Moriarty (much like Sherlock Holmes) is a testament to that. A “high functioning sociopath”, he does in fact share a great deal of these traits with his detective foil Holmes, however the pendulum swing of Moriarty’s grip on sanity seems so go much farther. His ability to disregard human life has been in him from a young age, back when he completed his first indirect kill. In his world death isn’t something to be mourned, for he truly believes “that’s what people DO”. Even his own life was insignificant to him when it came to winning, and he gave it up with a smile on his face.
Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty share a great deal of parallels, or so he believes. They each trust in their own superior intellect, arrogance to the point of rudeness, and a need for a distraction from their own thoughts. But even with these similarities there are also dramatic differences. Where Sherlock only trusts in his own observations and uses them as the key to unlock a better world around him, Jim puts a greater deal of stock in facts and knowledge. He takes an interest in academia, uses the knowledge carelessly given out by government agents against them and where his nemesis would use deduction to impress Jim uses threats against things he knows they hold dear. Even sexuality, something that Sherlock seems to not indulge in, is something Jim touts much more than his adversary. It’s no wonder with differences so drastic that Sherlock remains on the side of the “angels” while Jim controls the world of crime.
Moriarty, above all else, is searching for distractions. He offers himself to other criminals as a means for them to fix all of the problems in their plots, never taking a hands on approach to the messier business involved. Clean hands are just proof of his prowess; Moriarty is basically untouchable and relatively unknown to the world at large (and Scotland Yard to boot). Sherlock Holmes, who bested some of his finest work, is exactly what he needed to stop from stagnating. Like Sherlock, Moriarty suffers from the plague of over thinking that diminishes his motivation without stimulation. When the consulting business became less than satisfactory, he made it his main objective to focus all of his attention on Sherlock Holmes. He was the greatest distraction Jim could ask for, and he poured all of his resources and effort (and 30 million quid) into creating a game for both of them to play. But all good things must come to an end, and Jim couldn’t help but recognize the fate that only one of them could remain.
Character Plans: Jim isn't one to sit idly by while a world of crime is there, ripe for the plucking. He's highly skilled in what he does and he's going to want to hit the ground running. SERO and AGI are highly appealing to him because while he is a scientific mind, he is also just pure unadulterated crime incarnate. But Jim doesn't answer to a master or a higherpower—I think he would be most effective as a double agent once he gets contacts in both organizations. From the start he is going to help with small crimes before he gains some influence and works his way through the ranks of the criminal underground. Of course, so long as there is a Sherlock Holmes or any other person he deems worth his time in the city, he's going to take advantage of using them as a distraction. As much as Jim would love to avoid the people he believes are "ordinary", that's just not possible in the Port. He'll play along with everyone, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be playing nice.
Appearance/PB:
Somewhat creepy, decidedly short, surprisingly irish.

[ The voice that flows through the NV, riddled with the tinge of an Irish accent, is light and airy. A calm, collected and almost soothing sort of sound, or so it's intended to be. But it's difficult to mask the sinister edge the voice trails; like the hiss of a coiled snake, this voice is the steady calm before the storm. The anonymous author of the recording has taken every precaution imaginable to hide just where this message came from, but it's certainly not the last time anyone will be hearing it. Brace yourself Siren's Port, the game is about to begin. ]
Most captors take a less clever approach when dragging you away, don't you all agree? No real both though. From what I've seen I don't think this place will disappoint. Though it's all very First Circle, don't you agree?
A little birdy and her lovely pamphlet told me there's a secrets most people are keeping and some of them don't even realize it. That everyone here is a little more than ordinary but. I disagree. Most people are ordinary or striving to be normal. Average. Mediocrity is soooooo fashionable.

Delicate situations required delicate care; Jim had learned this long ago. With the possibility of enemies (or friends?) at every corner it was always necessary to take precautions. Of course, the Port was much more complicated than that, though he had to admire the dark beasts that roamed the world at night. He had no interest in them and they would have no interest in him if he kept to daylight and the underground, blended in, kept his head down. Were he just an average bloke he would take to trying to best those monsters head on, but that's hardly his style. Suits don't remain neatly pressed in a fight and wars aren't won by running through the front lines without tact.
Wars are won by the tacticians. Jim didn't want to be the vulture picking over the remains left behind by people's own stupidity, he wanted to order the executions. He did once in a land far far away, where he could make good on killing the queen if he wanted to. He could have the heads of the leaders of the world on a platter if he desired.. Those leaders were pieces on the board that just didn't realize they were being moved in the great game going on around them.
But here Jim would have to work his way back to the top, and that required work. He left his suit behind that day for simple, shabby, boring clothes. He left his hair uncombed. He didn't take time to shave the stubble on his chin. Richard didn't have to have everything in place just so to make and impression, and Jim could barely recognize himself in the mirror when he finally donned his ensemble.
Sad, pathetic, ordinary. Perfect, He thinks to himself, and the true Moriarty finally shows through, reflected back at him in the mirror in a malicious smile.
